One week until the half marathon
My first fundraising event in aid of Ovarian Cancer is the Hastings Half Marathon which I will be running next Sunday 21st March 2010.
I completely my first half marathon 6 months ago - a week after my mum died. It was a struggle, but I ran the whole way and every step was for my mum. This time around my training as been much more thorough. For twelve weeks I've been pounding the pavements, tow-paths and treadmills of London - through snow, rain and wind...and I'm almost there. As I write I've just got back from a 4 mile run and there are just two training runs left between now and the big race.
My knees and ankles are starting to feel the pressure, but it will all be worth it if I hit my goal of knocking around 20 minutes off my previous time.
I'm touched by the sponsorhip I've already received - but there is still a long way to go - physically, mentally and in terms of beating Ovarian Cancer.
